Do you fancy spending an evening thinking about writing and sex? Of course you do! On Friday 30 September 2022 at 19:00, I'll be welcoming the fabulous Katherine Angel over to Berlin for a reading and discussion on both these topics and more - with musical interludes from the equally fabulous Els Vandeweyer. You may even get to hear an extract from my still-very-much-in-progress next novel... The reading will take place at the villa I have had the pleasure to have a Room Of My Own in since September 2021: Moving Poets Novilla Hasselwerder Str. 22 in Schöneweide We'll be outside in the garden if the weather permits (so bring extra layers), but there is an indoor stage we can fall back on in case of rain/unbearable cold. More information about my guests here: Katherine Angel is the author of Daddy Issues: Love and Hate in the Time of Patriarchy, Tomorrow Sex Will Be Good Again, and Unmastered: A Book on Desire, Most Difficult to Tell. She teaches creative and critical writing at the University of London, and her writing has appeared in Granta, The White Review, and Los Angeles Review of Books, among other publications. Els Vandeweyer is a Belgian vibraphonist, percussionist, and composer currently living in Berlin. After studying classical percussion in Antwerp and jazz vibraphone in Brussels and Oslo, Els co-founded the IMI Kollektief, whose critically acclaimed album Snug as a Gun was released on Clean Feed in 2006. Today, Els plays regularly in Berlin, including solo performance, group improvisation, and contemporary music (including a performance of Xenakis’s Rebonds b at the A L'ARME! Festival in Berlin).
